Inception hits Blu-Ray December (even cheapo DVD users can get a combo pack)

Same day as the WoW Expansion. My local Frys electronics store will be packed I bet. Here is the Amazon page for the Blu Ray (no one buys DVD's anymore so I will skip that plus its included anyway) and you can see some of the features below.

  • Extraction Mode: infiltrate the dreamscape of Inception with this in-movie experience to learn how Christopher Nolan, Leonardo DiCaprio and the rest of the cast and crew designed and achieved the movies signature moments.

  • Dreams: Cinema of the Subconscious: taking some of the most fascinating and cutting-edge dream research to-date on lucid dreaming, top scientists make the case that the dream world is not an altered state of consciousness, but a fully functional parallel reality.

  • Inception: The Cobol Job: now in full animation and motion, check out this comic prologue to see how Cobb, Arthur, and Nash came to be enlisted by Cobol Engineering and perform an extraction on Saito.

  • 5.1 Soundtrack selections from Hans Zimmer's score

  • Conceptual art gallery

  • Promotional art archive

  • Trailers

  • TV spots

  • BD-Live

CIV 5 upcoming patch plans

Just a few of the changes 2K plans to make in the upcoming patch. You can read them all HERE.

UI

  • Fix for production prompt that sometimes appears with newly created puppet states that could stop the player from being able to end the turn.

  • Aircraft banner corrections – now when you rebase an aircraft, the number will move with it.

  • Resource icons now come up with Ctrl-R again, instead of sharing the same button with Build Roads.

  • Selecting a great general will no longer cause yield icons to appear.

  • Added option to disable auto-unit cycling.

  • Fix for full-screen game when running dual monitors. Previously, the curser could scroll off the “open” side, and not be able to scroll the map in that direction.

  • Misc additional fixes to mouse controls, and other interface issues.

  • Rounded out financial information in the Economic Overview screen. Details now provided on the amount of gold provided by each city, the cost of buildings in each city, etc.

  • Auto-populate save menu with save file name

  • Allow selection of other cities by hex from within the city screen

  • Added detailed trade route info to Economic Overview screen

LOTRO saves itself by going F2P

Not surprising really as tons of people would not want to try LOTRO due to a WoW addiction. With no entry fee the game seems to be chugging right along and hooking people with its "sit around campfires and play lutes with friends" attitude. Read more HERE.
Since making the switch, which was announced in June, developer Turbine says that revenues for the game have doubled. In addition, a million new accounts have been created and 20 per cent of the game’s former players have returned.

Peak concurrency has jumped by 300 per cent and the total active players count has increased four-fold.

World of Warcraft Cataclysm badge system breakdown

Gone are badges, arriving are Justice Points.

Per the WoW forums:

Here's some information on how each of the currencies will be converted in the next content patch. Keep in mind these values may change, and they can get a bit math heavy. Just know that our intent is to appropriately value each mark and provide a conversion we feel is fair.

The following items are immediately converted to gold:

  • Emblem of Heroism = 5.5 gold each

  • Emblem of Valor = 5.5 gold each

  • Emblem of Conquest = 5.5 gold each

  • Badge of Justice = 1.833 gold each

Your New Honor Points total will be the sum of the following amounts:

  • Old Honor * 0.024

  • Old Arena Points * 0.85

  • Battleground Mark of Honor * 2.976

  • Wintergrasp Mark of Honor * 19.08

  • Stone Keeper Shard * 1.6

  • Venture Coin * 3

  • Spirit Shard * 1

Your Justice Points total will be equal to (Emblems of Triumph + Emblems of Frost ) * 11.58

Again, the softcap for both Honor and Justice conversions is 4000 points. This means that if a character converts to above 4,000 points, it will not be possible for them to earn more until they fall below the 4,000 cap.

A hardcap will be implemented in a following patch before Cataclysm's release. At that time, any excess points above 4,000 will be converted as follows:

  • Honor points above 4,000 are converted to gold at a rate of 35 silver per point of Honor.

  • Justice points above 4,000 are converted to gold at a rate of 47.5 silver per point of Justice.
